As my priority date is current I contacted my local congressman's office for help with my I-485. NSC replied back to the office (see reply below) saying my background checks are still on. But the officer at the infopass appointment said my backgrounds checks are complete. I don't know whom to believe.
Is this some kind of standard reply that USCIS is giving for Congressman's or Senators case status inquiry?

Gary, I'm just thinking of mine which is a circular polarizer. You rotate the polarizer to achieve the desired amount of polarization. So I can rotate it one way and either darken or lighten the sky. All but your last pic looked as if it was darker on the right side which lead me to the assumption it was a circular type. There's a linear type too which I have never used so I'm not sure how it works, but I imagine it doesn't rotate (anyone?).
Linear vs. Circular has mainly to do with whether it works with metering and autofocus sensors in modern cameras. Both polarizers rotate and function similarly (I'm not sure if there is any difference in the effect shown in the image, but I doubt it).
Anyway, an unevenly polarized sky happens not because the polarizer is not rotated properly / enough, but rather because the camera is not quite at a 90 degree angle to the sun; this uneven polarization becomes more noticeable with wide angle lenses (to a point, then as even wider lenses are used, the sky will get dark in the middle and lighter on the edges even right at 90 degrees from the sun).

I missed the last rally and I regret it. There was a moment in time when we were all really energized. The flower campaign was brilliant. But now we seem to have lost that fire - me included! I dont even remember my dates anymore. I know we have a serious problem of getting people together for anything. But starting small in our own cities and connecting to a national IV would probably work. I am here in Sterling Heights, MI (Detroit Metro Area) and I am willing to host people in my area It will be great if others in other cities can do that too. I am dre. ming, but think about it if this works. We can march to washigton again such large numbers that everyone will notice. I really think its time to get together and do something. Bouncing ideas on IV boards is great but lets meet and get to know each other and see if can talk about this problem face to face across the country. Thats what grassroot effort it!. If nothing, we will find new friends in each other. I hope to find that fire in us again and I thank you for reading my post!

A few more questions:
1. While the I-140 is pending, can I get a different lawyer to file the I-485?
2. If I wait until the I-140 is approved and then get a different lawyer to process my I-485 (or do it myself), will this be a problem?
3. Can my employer withdraw the I-140 AFTER it's been approved?

1. Yes you can.. but how is it going to help? you still need your employer's support letter and I140 receipt notice. Read all the posts carefully.

They have to legally. you need to get the employment letter and I140 notice. Law firms and employer are not legally obligated to provide you I140 related information as its employer who is petitioning for you.

understand IV is a non-profit org and they are not full time employees of IV and getting paid for what they are doing. Entire IV active members and sleeping members are one team with set of goals.
Probably from my experience with IV activities I beleive IV would have known this news a week before. When we are talking about this, they might be working out a plan with QGA. Leave them free and let them do their job. It is not an easy task for volunteers. Each member is in different location and they have to co-ordinate etc etc. I do not know why people are DEMANDING from IV as if they are shareholders.

Is premium processing for I-140 back again??. I know that the premium processing for I-140 was suspended due to the expectations that there will be lot of I-485 applications during july. BUT now that they have made the dates unavailable.. IS PREMIUM PROCESSING FOR I-140 REINSTATED?? ANYBODY HAVE ANY UPDATES ON THIS !!!

Hi,
My current EAD will expire in September 2008. It is applied through Company A. I want to change my employer in July to Company B. But I would think during
that time frame I would have already applied for my EAD renewal.
Can I transfer to Company B during this renewal process?

I think you need to be in US when the application reaches the USCIS office.
Right now you can send the application to your lawyers office and ask him to check the application.Mail it to the USCIS when u r back in the country.
Once you travel outside the US you dont have any status,u need to be in country to adjust your status from non immgrant to immgrant.
Am I in the same situation? My spouse left US today to INDIA. However we filled the 485 on July 2nd. Will they consider that as abandonment of the application?

I heard that if you register a LLC in California every year you have to around $800 tax fee, weather you do a business or not, is it true?

The $800 tax payment is not due during the corporation's FIRST tax year. The first $800 minimum tax is due on the 15th day of the 4th month of the corporation's SECOND tax year.
Please note that LLCs are liable for the minimum franchise tax in all years (no two year exemption for LLCs).

Congrats on the latest admin wins and movements in campaigns/projects. I wanted to say a huge thank you but not farewell to the many kind folks who kept my spirits high in the short time I have been with IV:

Because this year's greencards are expired. New quota starts in October. So he should apply labor by then so that he gets his greencard on Oct 1, 2009 by overnight FedEx at 9.00 AM.
