I have recently been talking to members who have already filed I485 and have used AC21 to change jobs. I noted some limitations people face while changing jobs, getting higher salaries, making use of AC21 for changing more than 1 job.. etc etc.
It seems there is lack of information on this subject. Let us use this thread to
- share expeiences
- List issues you have all faced so that IV can have this information while working on advocay efforts.
- Make others aware of your problems and do's and don'ts in the community.
- Interpretation of various lawyers on this and how they have helped you solve your difficult situations.

AFAIK there is no "more than 1 job change" regulation. You can change as many times as you want.
There is no need to inform INS. If you wish to be _extra_ safe you may, but be aware that "any information you provide will be used against you". Don't try to be more patriotic than the king.
As far a salary goes, AFAIK you have to make as much as the LC requires you to.
The job description has to be "similar". I guess that means if you were writing C++, you can't start driving a truck.

I thinks EB3 INDIA will move between 9/11/2001 to JAN 2004 , because after 9/11 probably few people applied for GreenCrd because of market condition, even h1b quotas are not used for 2002 and 2003, i applied for h1b on 2004 April , no surprise the quota available because of market condition.
This could be dream. I have been waiting for last 4 Yrs to see my date to be current. It took 3 Yrs to move just 6 months. Mine is 12/2001(EB3-India). 2 more months..sorry 2 more years to wait...
I don't blame anyone. EB3 are less educated or less skilled than EB2. America wants Highly educated. They process EB2 first. Any leftovers Visas will be given to EB3 guys. Hence EB3 people have to face long waiting. This is my understanding of how they process EB3...

This is the latest USCIS scheme (read SCAM)!!
Accept everything but issue notices at a snail's pace citing the "fee increase" as the reason for "front log" (btw what the heck is a FRONT LOG???)
Until you dont receive the notices you cant avail of the benefits anyways. In the meantime, without any notice they change processing times and take away interim benefits as they see fit.

not sure how reliable this info is, take it with a fist full of salt...
on june first nse received abt 740 I485 applications.
I hope it is true. NSC is lazy man. They cannot process more than that a day. if not there will be a retrogression/backlog here in receipts too.:(

Agreed that H-1B has a fixed date. But from the employer standpoint, you're their "full-time, permanent" employee on H-1B, right? Because Future GC job could be same job on H-1B, only difference being on H-1B your job has fixed end date (noted by I-94), and GC job has no fixed end date, hence permanent. It does not make that current job on H-1B permanent.
Temp Job and Permannet Job can have same job title and job duties. Just like contract job and full-time job can have same job title and job duties, but one is employee of the company and other one is not.

Everyone getting receipt notices, and not coming to the rally, (not coming to the rally -most on tracker threads), please at least consider contributing to the rally once you get your notice or FP done or get EAD!. The rally cost is huge and we can do much more if people can contribute generously.

It pains us in the core team see how our members who used to tell us all the time to at least allow them to file I485 and then they will wholeheartedly take part and support IV have turned their backs on us now. I think it is ironic that we (from India) complain about quota on GC when we are the masters of quotas whether it be in education, workplace, politics etc. I myself was not affected by quotas in India, but I know several friends who were, simply because they were born in "upper caste" and therefore had to be denied opportunities as "revenge" for the injustice meted out by their ancestors several centuries ago, instead of being based on economics.
I personally think GC quota has a rationale behind it. It allows for a reasonable share to go to smaller countries so that the US population maintains its diversity. Besides, near the end of the year, if the numbers are unused, they are rolled over to larger countries like India and China, thereby automatically eliminating the quota.

As per CSR "The cards will be sent to the printer in October". I dont know how far it is true or what to make out of it.
Probably she is reading a standard call script. God knows...
Today, I received the approval notice in mail. However I did not get the physical cards. The notice says that I may have to do the biometrics again to get the but need not take any action at this time.

I strongly believe none will be affected with this correct interpretation of EB dependents must not use ebquota.
What about EB applicants from non retrogressed countries/EB1? The primary gets GC in 6 months and the family will have to wait in FB quota?
